Boichik Bagels

It’s a really special thing to witness a business grow from a dream to a full-fledged regional chain. Boichik Bagels is the result of founder Emily Watson’s vision based on a gap she saw in the SF Bay Area’s bagel offerings. From the humble beginnings of her first brick-and-mortar shop in Berkeley to 12 California locations (and growing) throughout the greater Bay Area and Los Angeles, her New York-style bagel business is booming.

My client, Build Group, was fortunate to partner with Boichik during its rapid growth, helping them open new retail locations in SF, Concord, LA and Los Feliz. Each location gets a signature “Bagel Factory” mural by local Berkeley artist Nigel Sussman. Build Group asked me to make a simple set of photos for each of these locations. I went the extra mile and included a glimpse of the human element behind these bagel shops into each set of photos. Here’s a selection of my favorites!
