Lead Elementary MPR

San Mateo, CA

2025

This project is a continuation of my K-12 education work with HKIT Architects. Lead Elementary’s new multipurpose building in San Mateo is a great example of a much-needed addition in a series of campus updates and modernization using funds approved by taxpayers from Bond Measure T. The north-facing primary design aspect of the building proved to be a bit of a challenge in this shoot. I chose to go with a late-afternoon session and pre-dusk sun to complement the exterior cladding and highlight the windows and natural designs. Additional scopes for the project included a new artificial turf field, a redesigned drop-off area and a shaded dining pavilion.
